Obverse: BARKER, WOOLLEN DRAPER 1811 Reverse: NORWICH CASTLE
Context
An 1811 Barker Woollen Draper penny token features two sheep relaxing on one side, and the familiar Norwich Castle (where the sheep market was) on the other. Other Tokens Featuring Sheep: Not all sheep on tokens are hanging fleeces. In fact, Conder tokens feature a wide variety of animal species. Other examples show sheep and lambs just doing their thing: sitting, standing, and generally relaxing on tokens.
